Introducing...Amy Claire

By Daffs aka @TwoDaff

When I first started writing this blog and reviews my aim was to try and highlight bands and artists that were either unknown or unsigned. To try and give them some exposure and get their music heard. Most bands do have a following to some extent, some more than others. A lot of people out there will have already heard some and hopefully I will have introduced you to others.

Its always nice to hear of new artists, for me personally and also to be given the opportunity to introduce you to them. So, I was really pleased when my mate Rob Oakley 81 Music Promo, SESKU ROCKS contacted me with a request to do a bit of a review/introduction for a talented young lady from Huddersfield.

The young lady in question is Amy Claire, Rob says

Myself and The Superlatives met her last year when they did a gig together, I think she would have been 14, she was very shy till she got on that stage

She is in Year 10 at school and about to do her GSCE’s. She started writing songs during lockdown. She isn’t on social media but does have a YouTube channel (HERE) which I urge you to check out.

A measure of confidence in her own ability

She has recently released a number of tracks 'Don't Grow Up', 'Could Never Fit In', and 'Popular', all acoustic and these really highlight the talent that Amy has, with just her voice and an acoustic guitar there is nowhere to hide, it shows a measure of confidence in her own ability and showcases an undeniable talent for such a young age. Every song is relatable, with subjects such as the need to fit in, not wanting the rigours and loneliness of growing old, the feelings felt when its hard to get noticed or you’re not the popular one because of the way you act or look, its relevant. Its mature songwriting for a young age, yet the subjects can be related to by all ages and are delivered with emotion and passion.

An undeniable talent

This rings out in the vocal, its powerful and emotive and yet its tender and heartfelt. She has a fantastic voice, it shines and sparkles backed with accomplished musicianship in her guitar playing, catchy riffs and melodies keep you intrigued and accentuate her voice, she is well ahead of her years when it comes to putting songs together both lyrically and musically. She delivers her message with a haunting almost delicate tone yet there is power in the sentiment.

Melodies keep you intrigued and accentuate her voice

Amy has unquestionable talent, she may be shy but this does not show in her music, she portrays an air of confidence, she has a fantastic voice that she backs up with skilled musicianship. The thing that impresses me is the fact that she writes her own stuff, for someone at such a young age this should be applauded, acknowledged and showcased. She is keen to get out gigging again and is due to support The Frantics and The Ventrelles at The Little un on the 24th June.

This lass has a huge future, a massive talent, she may come across as a wallflower but given the stage she blooms. Definately one to watch so i urge you to give her music a listen, even better get out and see her. Its vital that in this day and age that this sort of talent should not go unnoticed. I for one am looking forward to hearing more and and watching her musical career develop.
