By Daffs aka @TwoDaff

Treble Helix are an Edinburgh based experimental/psychedelic indie rock band established in August of 2021 as a recording project comprised of husband-and-wife song writing team Kier Lavin (producer/guitars) and Steph Lavin (Keyboards/Vocals) with Glasgow singer/songwriter Donny Gallagher (vocals/harmonica/percussion) joining them on lead vocals, they have since recruited two additional full time members Stuart McFarlane on bass and Stuart Douglas on guitar.

Previous releases include 'Moon Rabbit' , 'Archie's Prophecy' , The Weather is Changing' and 'Happy' a collection of psychedelic emblazened indie rock n roll, that have the head spinning in enjoyment in a whirlwind of sound.

Psychedelic emblazened indie rock n roll

The band are on a mission to spread messages of love and death, war and peace, but most importantly to play ear splitting, mind melting psychedelia. Unbound from the chains of genres and unfazed by the taste barriers put up by the gatekeepers of the old guard. Treble Helix have received great support from independent radio stations such as Duggy Stone Radio, The Charles Motorbike Show, Away Day Radio and Angel’s Indie Lounge. Their last single “Happy” was released in September 2022 and was played on The Mickey Bradley Show (The Undertones) on BBC Radio Ulster and The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio.

A barrage of thundering jungle tom toms

The band released their fifth single “Missing Organs” on 17th February. Opening with a barrage of thundering jungle tom toms and a dark foreboding climbing guitar riff giving an air of anticipation. As the guitar reaches its zenith drums kick in and the track takes off.

A fusion of dark rock with a dance grooved undertone

The pace is relentless, it starts almost Zeppelin-esque but morphs into a fusion of dark rock with a dance grooved undertone. Elements of 90’s indie/Brit rockin the vocal gives it a modern twist (Think Swastika Eyes (Primal Sream) meets Black Rebel Motorcycle Club whilst Kasabian play in the background).

A beat that is infectious

Highly energetic, and intense the soundscape is rich, complex. Filled with heavy guitars and a beat that is infectious it’s a thunderous statement. It’s a unique sound. Somewhere between Zeppelin and the Prodigy is where spiritual producer Gilgamesh told the band to land and it does just this.

Multi – layered guitars and the modern indie vocal

The track rolls to a crescendo of explosive drums, creating a backdrop for soaring guitar leads that weave and wind within the beats producing more intensity as it builds to a glorious instrumental ending that elevates the track further. Its high energy psychedelic rock.

Treble Helix have created a wall of sound that is unique, this track is full of complexities, the fast-paced beat, multi – layered guitars and the modern indie vocal, pushing boundaries and merging many genres to produce a vibe that is both steeped in the nostalgia of the bygone rock era with elements of electro dance and classic brit rock.

Give them a go they won’t disappoint. "Missing Organs" is available on all the usual platforms.
