Sweat and Alcopops - BilloBuckers
By Daffs aka @TwoDaff
I know I keep saying it but this review writing is a brilliant way of being introduced to new bands and artists, every week something new pops up and this week is no exception. Billobuckers (brilliant monicker) are a four-piece band hailing from Leicester. The band consists of Billy (Vocals and Rhythm Guitar), Alastair (Lead Guitar), Callum (Bass and Backing Vocals) and George (Drums.
Formed just over a year ago they have got off to a flying start with two singles under their belt ‘It’ll Be Alright’ and ‘Where You’re From’ and a sell-out hometown gig at The Firebug. Taking their influences from the 60’s and Britpop bands like Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Jamie T, Ratboy, The Jam, The Beatles and the Stone Roses. Although they feature heavily, they put their own unique stamp on the music they make creating a sound of their own.
Their latest Track is called ‘Sweat and Alcopops’ is a totally relatable track about that night out that you didn’t really want to be on, ending up in the same old shit night club that you always do. Hints of youthful exuberance and freedom with a two fingered salute to DJ’s that can’t play good old indie tunes. Nice One!
This track screams energy
Right from the get go this track screams energy, opening with a dirty guitar riff that runs through the track from the off, its addictive and has you up bouncing around straight away. Its punchy and edgy with a punk vibe yet it’s fun, it’s a story more than a song and the vocal delivers it in a way that you can relate to it, its not spoken but its not sung and I like that.
A shameless impudence that gives it an added swagger
Full of pace, it has a groove that’s addictive backed with melodies and a shameless impudence that gives it an added swagger. The lyrics add a touch of humour and this adds to the song. The chorus is catchy and upbeat. It thunders and rolls, driving guitars and riffs backed with pummelling drums create a raucous wall of sound but its vibrant and hooks you.
A raucous wall of sound
This is the first track I have heard from Billobuckers and it certainly won’t be my last. I like the attitude and swagger portrayed in the track. It’s got a huge energetic vibe, its loud, its brash and its fun. Everyone can relate to this track and I guarantee this will blow the roof off when played live. Billobuckers are ones to watch this year, I thoroughly recommend these and can’t wait for their next instalment.
A huge energetic vibe
They are set play an outdoor show on July 15th alongside Gazelle.
