The Mease are the five-piece Derby based indie psych-pop outfit consisting of Tristan Cooper (Lead vocals/Guitar), Guy Smith (Lead guitar), Adam Goulding (Keys), Jon Wright (Drums) and Mo Hussain (Bass/percussion). They are one of the biggest followed new indie bands on the scene right now and are on a self-declared mission to bring back the golden era of indie rock n roll.

Their sound likened to such greats as The Coral, The Verve and early Oasis by such new music champions as BBC introducing where they were given the accolade of Record of The Week, and their last single was picked up by Spotify on the ‘Fresh Finds Rock’ editorial playlist.

The Mease released their explosive debut album ‘The World in High Definition’ in September, receiving rave reviews. For me it was one of my favourite albums of 2022. The latest single in a string of hotly received releases from the band is the summer feel good anthem ‘Waiting For The Sun’. The single is being released digitally on Friday 30th June and has already established itself as a firm fan favourite when performed live.

Songwriter, Tristan, said this about the new single:

The song is about not waiting around for something that isn't going to happen and accepting how small a part we all play in the world.

Melodic riffs and nostalgic vibes

The opening intro riff shouts out summer from the get go, flooding the track with a glorious summer brightness. The uplifting rhythms and beats are infectious. Its easy going an almost carefree sound that provides a warm glow. Full of melodic riffs and nostalgic vibes, surf rock meets modern day indie, perhaps a hint of Lightning Seeds/Boo Radleys…perhaps!

Light and vibrant

Whatever the case may be it’s a track made for long summer evenings, the vocals are great and take on an almost Wilson-esque tone. It’s a summer anthem for sure not just in the title but in the whole feel of the song. It showcases how the band have evolved, its light and vibrant with a kaleidoscope of colourful melodies with a beat that has the feet tapping and head nodding in unison.

The solo, soaring and in keeping with the vibe, it shimmers and fizzes

All this is backed with a thumping beat that drives the song forward, and then comes the solo, soaring and in keeping with the vibe, it shimmers and fizzes, adding an effervescence to what is an already sparkling sound. Its an anthem and a perfect song for any festival, its sure to have fans bouncing all night.

A kaleidoscope of colourful melodies

The Mease have created a song that lifts the heart and soul, a real feelgood vibe capturing the essence of summer, if you could capture the sun and encapsulate it in a tune then this is it. I feel it’s a change in sound from tracks on the album (and that was a brilliant album) it has lighter feel in my opinion, breezy and airy without detracting from their indie attitude. Another great song from what for me are a great band.
